A drum brake system works differently from a disc brake. Instead of brake pads pressing against a disc, in a drum brake the brake shoes are pushed outwards against the inside of the brake drum. This creates the necessary friction to slow down and stop the moped car. Drum brakes are found on Aixam moped cars and on various other brands.
