Moped car brake caliper
The brake caliper presses the brake pads against the brake disc and provides the braking force when the brake is applied. Via hydraulic pressure from the master cylinder, the pistons in the brake caliper are pushed outwards, pressing the brake pads against the brake disc. A well-working brake caliper is very important for safe and even braking performance at both wheels. Minicar-Parts supplies brake calipers for all well-known brands, including Aixam, Microcar, Ligier, Chatenet, JDM, Bellier, Grecav and Casalini.
Typical symptoms of a defective brake caliper are uneven braking where the moped car pulls to one side when braking, a brake pedal that feels softer or deeper due to a leaking piston or seal, brake fluid leakage visible at the brake caliper, a brake that does not release fully causing the wheel to drag or overheat, uneven wear of the brake pads due to a seized piston, and creaking or squeaking sounds from corrosion of the guide pins. Brake calipers are sold individually. Left and right are different, always check the fitting side before ordering. Brake calipers are brand-specific. The range includes brake calipers from Bonq as a reliable alternative and original brake calipers from the relevant moped car brand.
When replacing the brake caliper, also check the condition of the brake pads and the brake disc. Bleed the brake system after replacement and check the brake fluid reservoir for the correct level. Preferably replace both brake calipers at the same time for even braking performance at the left and right wheel. For further brake system parts, please refer to brake circuit and handbrake.
