Gear shift cable forward Ligier / Microcar

The forward gear cable for the Ligier JS50, JS60 and X-Too series and the Microcar MGO and Dué series is a Bowden cable: a steel cable inside a flexible sheath that transfers the movement of the shift lever on the dashboard to the gearbox. When you push the lever forward, this cable pulls or pushes the shift mechanism in the gearbox into the correct position for the forward gear.

A worn shift cable shows itself through stiff or notchy shifting, a lever that no longer returns smoothly to the neutral position or a visibly frayed cable at the mounting points.
