The slide bush for the brake caliper keeps the caliper in place and allows it to move smoothly along its guide when braking. When you press the brake pedal, the caliper shifts a few millimetres along this slide bush to press the brake pads evenly against the brake disc. Without properly working slide bushes, the caliper sits skewed and only one brake pad presses against the disc fully.
A worn slide bush shows up as a caliper that seizes, uneven wear of the brake pads (one pad noticeably thinner than the other), or a braking feel that keeps dragging on one side after releasing the pedal.
