Brake pad retaining pin

The guide pin for the brake caliper of the Microcar, Ligier, Chatenet, Grecav, Bellier, JDM, Casalini and Aixam is the axle along which the movable part of the caliper slides. When you press the brake pedal, the caliper piston pushes one brake pad against the disc; via this guide pin, the opposite brake pad comes against the disc on the other side at the same time. Without a smoothly moving guide pin, the caliper sticks and the brake pads press unevenly.

Seized or bent guide pins lead to uneven wear of the brake pads, a caliper that no longer retracts, and sometimes a brake pad dragging against the disc. When replacing the brake pads, it is sensible to check these pins and renew them if needed. This guide pin is by Bonq and is sold per piece; one caliper takes two of them.
