The drive belt for the Microcar MC1 and MC2, the Chatenet Barooder, the JDM Abaca, Abaca Mountain, Albizia, Titane 1, 2 and 3 and the Bellier Opale with Yanmar 2TNE68 engine is the rubber band that transfers the power of the engine to the variator. The variator is a stepless transmission in which the belt continuously adjusts to the engine speed. At low speed the belt runs on a small diameter, at higher speed it shifts to a larger diameter. Because the belt is constantly under tension, friction and heat, it needs to be replaced regularly.

A worn drive belt shows up as a jerky or delayed acceleration in which the moped car no longer pulls away smoothly, as a reduced top speed despite a fully pressed accelerator, or as a situation in which the engine runs but the moped car no longer moves forward because the belt has snapped.
