Thermostat Aixam Kubota (up to 2005)

The thermostat for the Aixam 400, 400.4, 400 Evolution and 500.4 with a Kubota Z402 engine from the Revolution and Evolution series (up to 2005) regulates the flow of coolant through the engine. When the engine is cold, the thermostat holds the coolant inside the engine block so the engine warms up quickly to operating temperature; once the engine is warm enough, the thermostat opens and the coolant flows along the radiator to keep the engine at temperature.

A worn thermostat shows up as an engine that no longer reaches operating temperature (temperature gauge stays low), as an engine that overheats instead (temperature gauge climbs into the red), or as an interior heater that fails to warm up. Driving with a faulty thermostat is not advisable: an overheated engine suffers damage, and an engine that runs too cold wears down faster and uses more fuel. This thermostat is by Bonq and has a diameter of 38 mm.
