The air filter by HIFI for the Lombardini 442 DCI, 480 DCI, 492 DCI, 502 Progress and 502 FOCS engine and the Yanmar 2TNE68 engine removes dust, insects and fine contaminants from the outside air before it is drawn into the combustion chamber. Clean air in the engine ensures efficient combustion and prevents hard particles from damaging the pistons and cylinder walls.
An air filter is a wear part: at regular servicing the filter is replaced to prevent it from becoming too clogged. A clogged air filter restricts the air supply, causing the engine to deliver less power, use more fuel and produce darker exhaust gases.
