Engine mounts attach the engine to the frame of your moped car with vibration damping and keep the engine stable in its position. They absorb vibrations and impacts from the engine and prevent these from being transferred to the bodywork and other parts. In addition to the engine mounts themselves, brackets and supports also fall under this category. Worn engine mounts show themselves through various symptoms. Increased vibrations are often the first noticeable symptom, felt in the steering wheel, seats or bodywork, stronger at idle or when engaging gears. Knocking or banging sounds occur when the engine is no longer well supported and moves more, such as knocking when accelerating or braking, banging when changing gear or metal-on-metal sounds. With severe wear the engine can visibly move more, tilt when accelerating or even drop or shift slightly. Worn engine mounts can also indirectly cause damage to exhaust mountings, hoses, cables and drive shafts through excessive engine movement.

On inspection the following defects may be visible: cracks in the rubber, rubber detached from metal parts, sunken or deformed rubber and with hydraulic mounts fluid leakage. Replacement is recommended when vibrations have clearly increased, knocking sounds occur, cracks or leaks are visible or the engine moves noticeably more than normal.
