Moped car brake pads

Brake pads are the wear parts of the brake system that are pressed against the brake disc to slow down and stop the moped car. They are mounted in the brake caliper and are pressed against the brake disc via hydraulic pressure from the master cylinder. Good braking performance depends on the quality and thickness of the brake pads. Worn brake pads can be recognised by a longer braking distance, a brake system that responds later, a squealing or grinding sound when braking or a vibrating brake pedal. With severe wear the metal carriers of the brake pads can rub directly against the brake disc, causing damage to the disc and greatly reduced braking force. Brake pads are sold in sets of 4, sufficient for 2 wheels. They are often brand-specific. Always replace brake pads per axle for equal braking force on both sides. When replacing, also check the condition of the brake discs and the brake calipers. Always bed in new brake pads by braking gently for the first few kilometres so the pad forms well against the brake disc. Push the brake pistons back into the caliper before fitting the new pads and check the brake fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir after installation.
